Comprehensive Prenatal and Childbirth Classes: Hynobabies in Edmonton

Those who know me used to call me a huge birth nerd. I have done endless prior research comparing Hypnobirthing and Hypnobabies in Edmonton.

Hi! I’m a lifestyle maternity, newborn and family photographer based in Edmonton, Alberta. Please check out the portfolio pages linked if you have yet to book a photographer to document this stage of your life! The best time to schedule your session is during the start of your second trimester for maternity photos to be done 28 to 32 weeks.

I am writing about Hypnobabies from my personal experience as I took Hypnobabies in 2016 and used it for both my pregnancies and births — in 2016 and in 2018.

It is completely possible to equip ourselves with evidence-based childbirth and newborn care. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I wanted information that was non-biased and not something I could use a search engine for. After poring over a lot of books from the public library, using hypnosis to manage childbirth discomfort was the method that stood out to me the most!

Hypnobabies is the most comprehensive mother-friendly prenatal course. It is 6-weeks long. You can take Hypnobabies online (use the code ‘priest’ for 10% off!) or in person via a Hypnobabies instructor. I felt no pain — just discomfort. A lot of my anxieties were lessened by taking Hypnobabies as a prenatal course.

What are the differences between Hypnobirthing and Hypnobabies?

In Hypnobabies, contractions are referred to as “pressure waves”. These pressure waves are discomfort (instead of pain). In the Mongan’s Method of Hypnobirthing, they call contractions “surges”.

Besides the difference in terminology, you can direct a “hypno-anesthesia” to where you need it in Hypnobabies; you can use an eyes-open hypnosis with Hypnobabies. With the eyes-open technique, you can maintain hypnosis while eating, talking or walking.

Hypnobabies also has tracks for your toddlers — Toddler Sleepy Time was such a lifesaver! (Especially when your toddler fights napping)
