Are you dreaming of flowers, golden light, and a setting that feels like an intimate, curated garden party? The Garden Venue in Stony Plain, Alberta, is the kind of outdoor wedding venue that has everything wedding couples would want from getting ready to first looks, ceremony and reception. Just 30 minutes west of Edmonton, this lush acreage is home to an orchard, a pond, mature old-growth trees, and multiple distinct spaces — all designed to carry a wedding day from first look to last dance without ever feeling like you have left paradise.
Hi, my name is Cynthia, and I am a wedding photographer based in Alberta. I had the privilege of photographing Melanie and Joey’s wedding at The Garden Venue, and what I witnessed that day was nothing short of breathtaking. I am so excited to share what this property truly looks and feels like!

Address: Stony Plain, Alberta — on the edge of town, just outside Spruce Grove
Capacity: Up to 200 guests
The Garden Venue is refined elegance. It is not a barn. It is not a banquet hall dressed in warm bulbs and reclaimed wood. It is a living, breathing garden property — one where ethically raised livestock roam, an orchard grows heavy with fruit, and the produce on your dinner table was picked steps away from where you said your vows. For couples who want outdoor romance without the rustic farmhouse aesthetic, this is something altogether different.
This outdoor garden wedding venue scales beautifully, from an intimate small wedding to a full celebration of up to 200 guests. Logistically speaking, your wedding guests will be comfortable here all day — with no worries about arranging shuttle services.

The Marquis Tent is a white canvas structure with clean, modern lines. As a photographer, I love venues where I can easily create art while capturing raw emotions of the day. The Marquis Tent is versatile enough to carry a ceremony, dinner, and dance all in one place, with the surrounding gardens softly visible just beyond the walls.

If I could design a ceremony space from scratch for a romantic, editorial wedding, it would look something like The Circle. This open-air space is surrounded by wildflowers and mature trees, with no artificial backdrop in sight — the landscape is the décor. Melanie and Joey were married here and the natural green canopy overhead made for some of the most breathtaking ceremony frames I have ever captured.

Floor-to-ceiling windows. Garden views in every direction. The Dome is The Garden Venue’s answer to Alberta weather — a fully enclosed space that never lets you forget you are surrounded by nature. It holds up to 75 guests and works beautifully as an intimate reception room or a cocktail-hour space that feels connected to the outdoors even when the doors are closed.
The Pergola is where romance gets quiet and intentional. Long and slender in its footprint, wrapped in nature on all sides, this open-air space is made for intimate outdoor dinners under an open sky. It photographs like an editorial spread — soft, lush, and completely its own world away from the main celebration.

The Garden Venue is thoughtfully designed to reduce the logistical weight on couples and their vendors, so the day can feel as effortless as it looks:
The on-site catering deserves a special mention. The Garden Venue raises livestock ethically and grows produce right on the property — so when they say farm-to-table, they mean it in the most literal and beautiful sense.

Photographing Melanie and Joey’s wedding gave me an intimate look at what a full day at The Garden Venue truly feels like — and it was one of those days I will not forget.
Their ceremony unfolded in The Circle, beneath a canopy of mature trees with wildflowers framing every angle. The light was soft with the overcast. Their wedding couple portraits took us through the orchard, along garden paths, and beneath old-growth trees. A short walk through entirely different backdrops without ever stepping off the property.
By the time golden hour arrived, we were deep in the wildflowers with warm light falling across everything. The reception under the Marquis Tent carried that same warmth — glowing, romantic, and intimate even within a larger celebration.
As a photographer, I find that a romantic garden venue with this much variety in one location is rare. Every frame tells a different story, and not a single minute of the day is lost to travel.

Book early. Summer weekends in the Edmonton area fill fast, and The Garden Venue’s outdoor season is not a secret.
Design your day across multiple spaces. The natural flow from the ceremony in The Circle to the cocktail hour in The Dome to dinner under the Marquis Tent creates a beautiful arc for your guests.
Ask The Garden Venue about their seasonal farm-to-table menu. If on-site catering appeals to you, ask early what the garden and livestock can offer for your date. The menu is as alive as the property itself.
Protect golden hour for portraits. The wildflowers, orchard, and mature trees at this property are at their absolute peak in that last hour of light. Guard it fiercely in your timeline.
Hire a photographer who knows the property. Every minute you spend scouting on the day is a minute you are not making images. Familiarity with the land means every portrait opportunity gets used.

How many guests can The Garden Venue hold? Up to 200 guests in the Marquis Tent or The Circle. The Dome holds up to 75. The Pergola accommodates up to 50 for a more intimate celebration.
Is there an indoor option if it rains? Yes — The Dome has floor-to-ceiling windows with a full garden view and holds up to 75 guests. It still feels entirely connected to the outdoors. The weather threatened to sprinkle rain during the couple’s wedding day, and everyone was prepared to move the ceremony inside the Marquis Tent before sticking to the original plan.
Can we bring our own caterer? Absolutely. Outside catering is welcome alongside their in-house farm-to-table option.
Where exactly is The Garden Venue located? Stony Plain, Alberta. It is just outside Spruce Grove and approximately 30 minutes west of Edmonton.
Is there parking on-site? Yes. Complimentary parking is included for all guests.
Can we host both the ceremony and reception on the property? Yes. The Garden Venue is designed for full-day celebrations, with multiple distinct spaces to carry each beautiful moment of your day.
