Edmonton Playgrounds Kids & Parents Love: A Guide for Every Age

Fresh air and physical activity are amazing for our mental and emotional well-being. I have compiled a comprehensive list of Edmonton playgrounds for kids of various ages! Several playgrounds have amazing structures to encourage gross motor skills for toddlers & beyond. Bring on your picnic blanket this summer! Some playgrounds are close to local ice cream shops to cool off afterwards during Edmonton’s sweltering hot summer days!

In the summertime, there are green shack programs at various Edmonton playgrounds. Green Shack locations operate half-days; morning programs start at 10:30 am and ends at 1:30 pm. Afternoon Green Shack programs start at 2:30PM and ends at 5:30 PM and. These green shack programs are geared for ages 6 and up — though, in my experience, my kids have enjoyed them as preschoolers, with my supervision. They can enjoy arts & crafts. Your kids can work on their social skills at the playground. I know my kids won’t leave yours alone, hah! (They love making new friends.)

When I was a first-time mom, I wish there was a list of Edmonton playgrounds compiled for my children according to age. If the weather is inclement, check out these 19 indoor playgrounds.

Edmonton has 667 playgrounds, so it is almost impossible to list them all.

Fun & Social Play at Edmonton Playgrounds!

Edmonton has many fun playgrounds, where we can enjoy Vitamin D (natural sun) with our children. I love going on the swings at the playground to soothe my neurodivergent self. Remember to bring your sun-block this summer! (And towels — many Edmonton playgrounds have spray parks. Watch out for super soakers!)

I am a family & graduation portrait photographer based in Alberta. Summer and early fall are my most requested times for family photos — I would love to chat if you are looking for a photographer. (P.S. I am always up for a play date! I have a moms’ group on Facebook where I plan to arrange playdates for the month.)
