Are you a craft beer lover? Me too! Furthermore, The Bell in Scona has an industrial and romantic vibe and is the perfect setting for an intimate wedding.
As an Edmonton wedding photographer, I love connecting with Edmonton wedding venues that fit the vibe for planning intimate weddings. I recently toured The Bell in Scona in person and talked to Sofie, the event coordinator. Check out my wedding portfolio and fill out the contact form to inquire if you have yet to find a wedding photographer!
The Bell in Scona is located in the heart of Old Strathcona. It is close to many key spots for wedding portraits: you can choose between nature and urban. Depending on your wedding timeline, I can guide you with which locations to choose for your portraits.

With the event space being 4,000 square ft and the 1,000 sq ft turfed roof-top patio, the capacity for a sit-down dinner with a dance floor is 160 guests. 180 guests can be squeezed but it will be tight. If you have a larger guest list, the capacity for a cocktail-only reception is 222 guests.
When you book a wedding here, you get full private access to the rooftop patio.
The lights are dimmable — if you need it brighter or darker. There are twinkle lights on the ceiling to add a magical ambience. The best part about this wedding venue is that both upstairs and the restaurant (on the ground floor) are completely soundproof. There are washrooms on the top floor. During winter months, a coat-check service is provided.
There is a feature turf wall across the main entrance. The turf wall can be used for guest and family photos or as a backdrop for your wedding ceremony. Since the Bell in Scona is in a historic building, it is also perfect for retro-themed weddings — such as the Great Gatsby era. With the right wedding planner to help you bring your vision to life, this wedding venue is central and convenient for wedding couples and guests.
For wedding guests with limited mobility, there is a freight elevator which is close to the bar.
The best way I can describe this venue is that it is the most inclusive wedding venue where wedding couples are not charged any venue fees. As long as you hit your minimum spend, the venue is included. There is a small ceremony fee, which covers the setup and take down for your wedding reception. It is a very versatile wedding venue. They do have a podium and a projector should you need one.
You can opt between buffet service or plated service at The Bell in Scona.
There is a fully-serviced bar, as seen in the featured photo above. Also, did you know that The Bell in Scona has a fully-functioning brewery at the restaurant? Beer can be easily served on tap at the bar.
The best part is that you can get ready at the wedding venue. It has a mini-fridge where you can request drinks to be stocked. I LOVE how picture-ready this room is for getting ready — and dark walls are great for a cinematic backlit hair spray photo.
There are full-length mirrors — it is essential to getting ready.
Please note that I don’t drink while I am photographing weddings. Ha, ha. (I have to make that clear!)
